Joining this blog

Hi, still trying to figure this blog thing out. If you want to “join” , please send me a text message Pamkruft@gmail.com Then I have to send you an invitation, after you accept,  then you can comment, I think ( and maybe be notified when I post a new page?). Update on the new washer/dryer.  It works Grreeaattt! David is putting the wood trim back on right now.  The refrigerator......the jury is still out.  It gets cold, quits and warms up, gets cold, warms up, over and over.  Is it operator error?? Hmmmm

New refrigerator

We got up at 6am to empty the frig so the new one could be installed. We had time for coffee before Little Teak showed up (pretty sure that is not his real Vietnamese name) to get started. They also pulled out the dead washer/dryer (come to find out...there was a kink in the duct work, thus the dryer didn’t work too well.  We may not have actually needed a new one but that’s what happens sometimes in Boatland)  little Teak got the frig in and turned on around 3:30.  My poor foods that were now sitting on the back deck in a laundry basket were quite warm but the frig seemed to do just fine and started to cool down. At 9pm, it decides to quit working, we jiggled and swore at it, it then started again, yay, let’s hope it continues to work.  I think grocery shopping is in order tomorrow since Everything has been at that “let’s grow salmonella” temperature most of the day.  Little Teak didn’t get to the dryer install, maybe tomorrow, maybe Monday. Just another day in Boatland.❤️  1. The dr

I found some pics of the interior of the boat before we moved aboard where everything is neat and tidy, which it hasn’t been since then, ha. First pic is the guest head, 2nd is the Salon where we basically live, 3rd is the “linen closet”. Each shelf is about 8”x8”, never knew a set of queen sheets could be folded so small😊

It was a good day in Boatland.  The new refrigerator arrived, David has finished organizing the lazerette (the storage space under the back deck), we bought some chairs for the back deck and the weather was so nice. An engine guy showed up to troubleshoot a pesky red light alarm and finally figured out there is a sensor that is looking for a backup device (there is not a backup device, so we can change a setting to fix it, yay!!!).   David was able to find our, save for special occasions, Shipwreck Coconut Rum so we celebrated all these things with a Mojito, that would have been better had we remembered to turn the ice maker on and we could have had cold Mojitos. Gasp, that was a long sentence. Oh, and one last thing, the new washer/dryer is being delivered tomorrow.  Happy Days are here again!

Photos, I Hope

(turned out to be just a simple fix, somebody - not Dave,  hit a wrong button.  Started right back up, phew!

Thanks for the responses.

Our internet service is a little sketchy. Trying to upload some pics

Still in New Orleans

David and Ellie (our labradoodle) and I are still in New Orleans.  We have been here about 6 weeks getting things on the boat fixed, replaced, maintained.  The boat is 720 sq ft  and we have finally found spots for everything.  We are getting used to living small, it seems very normal now. I have found I really don’t need 7 spatulas and 4 sets of mixing bowls. In order to get the boat insured, we are required to have a captain come and certify that we can run the boat safely. Captain Bernie was here for a few days, then left as the weather was so bad and we had repairs that left us unable to take the boat out for some maneuvering training. He should be back about March 6th.  Hopefully all the work will be done and the weather will be nice enough to head east towards Florida. Stay tuned❤️

Starting the journey

Hi friends and Fam. I have started this blog so that I don’t end up typing  the same story ten times. Thanks for being interested in our new adventure aboard “Painkiller”.  Let me start a little ways back. We have actively been searching boats to figure out what boat we wanted.  After 4 years, we found Painkiller.  She is a 2009 Selene 43, 2 staterooms, two heads and a covered back deck.  We haven’t found a name we like so for the time being, she stays Painkiller from her last owner.  We closed on the boat a few days before Christmas and drove from Phoenix to New Orleans towing a small trailer of our stuff. We spent the next 3 weeks unpacking and trying to find where everything should go and which light switch turned on what.  Still figuring things out, stay tuned for the details
