Team Kruft/Amster, winning!

Image
Lobsters 0, Team Kruft/Amster 8. Since the last day of lobster season is in 2 days, we decided to give lobstering another go.  We came home with 8.  The boys caught lots more than that but they were too small so back they went into the drink. I floated around looking for conch shells in the sandy bottom.  We were only in 4' of water, it was 76 degrees and felt wonderful.  I'd watch the boys spot a lobster, then they would dive down and their swim fins would start flopping around on the surface as they fought to stay under the water and try to net the lobster.  It was downright comical, I sat in the dinghy and belly laughed, all by myself!  This morning before we left the boat, I called the Cuban restaurant and made reservations and also preordered Paella for 3.  We got there at 6 pm and our food was delivered at 6:15, perfect!  We were so hungry we dove in and then I remembered I should have taken a pic.  Well, it was good!  It had lots of shrimp, chicken, grouper and pork in

Lobstering

David and Kirk decided to go lobstering yesterday. They had gone to the dive store a few days ago and bought all the necessities.  We put the dinghy in the water, all the gear was loaded and off they went...to the gas dock.  Then they went looking for  rocks and tall grasses to find the lobsters in hiding.  I sat out on the back deck and read a book, a breeze was blowing and it was  almost cool, the weather I mean.  It was a moment of "Boatland dreams come true".  The back deck was the number one requirement for our boat to have and two engines. Well, we got the back deck (but only 1 engine) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather is not normally condusive to reading a book on the back deck, it was heavenly.  But back to the lobsters.  After about 3 hours I got a text message showing me the 3 lobsters that had been caught.  Then I heard the putt putt of the dinghy motor.  I helped them unload and hose off everything. Next they needed to umm, take the tails off.  I brought

There are such nice people here at the marina.  We've never been in one place long enough to join in the social aspect of Boatland.  But here, we are having docktails and cocktails and stories and recommendations of where to go and how to get there.  Starting with Brent and Deb, they have shared their lobster catches and conch shells Deb has picked up from the bottom of the ocean.  We gave them CBD for their ailments.  Kirk is next to them.  He hosted a docktails and since it was so hot and his boat is big enough, we went inside in the a/c.  His puppy Sam was having fun with so much action and he added his own enthusiasm  by loudly squeaking his toy.  Since most of us have dogs, we all encouraged Sam to keep squeaking!  Kirk put out quite the spread and with everyone bringing a shareable, there was enough food and drink that most of us skipped dinner.  Next to Kirk is X (Xavier).  He's on a big sailboat, nice guy.  New to the dock is Dave and yikes, his wife ?? Last day

The kids left this afternoon and I am very sad.  It was so great to see them and have them on the boat.  They both were wonderful guests!!  We're hoping to have them back after Jake has to go to Alabama this summer.  Jake seemed to like going out on our boat and also getting to go out on  Kirk's boat too, driving was fun for him.  He also had fun just going to the pool with that water skipping ball I got for him and making some new friends while they played with it.  You could just see Leslie relax a little bit each day, I think she really needed some down time.  We made a quick stop at the Cuban restaurant at the end of the street, Leslie thoroughly enjoyed the pork and rice, Jake wasn't feeling very adventurous so he had a cheeseburger.  For now we'll just wait for the kids to get back to Phoenix safely and then start laundry tomorrow.  It was great having them and makes me realize how much I really do miss my family!    PS we've discovered that our tiny area in t

The internet was nonexistent last night so no blog.  Since it's March Madness and UofA, the #2 seed, is playing tonight, I'll be up a little later than usual to wait out the upload nightmare.  Yesterday, Kirk took David and Jake out fishing.  They were gone about 4 hours and unfortunately didn't even get a bite.  But they had fun, nonetheless.  Jake got to drive the boat which he thought was very fun!!  When they got back to the marina, the three of them gave the boat a quick wash. Leslie and I went into town and did some shopping.  Leslie found a wind chime that she "needed". It was made of shells and produced great music.  Back at the dock, we met one of our neighbors, they were cleaning lobsters they had caught.  I asked if I could take a pic, ran to get my phone, and went back over.  The were showing us how you break off one of their antenna, twist the body off the tail and then use the antenna to clean out the poo chute.  They actually gave us THREE lobster t
