David made a trip to the GPS Store to buy “a few things”.  He ordered some electronics since there were none in stock.  The salesman drove him from the store back to the marina, people are so nice here!  While he was gone I gave Ellie a bath, then cleaned the shower, it needed it! We had an uneventful trip to our marina for this night.  David docked the boat perfectly and into a tight spot even.  Dock crews have a hard time believing we’ve only been driving the boat for a month.  We met some people on the dock, got invited to a little get together on their back deck.  I know I keep saying that we keep meeting nice people but we do.  We had fresh shrimp, blue yumbos, as they called them in Rocky Point so many years ago.  Gorgeous and smelled like the ocean.  We turned them into Shrimp Scampi for dinner and put the rest of them in vacuum packed bags into the freezer. I think we will be staying here another day, get some electronics stuff installed and maybe even rest for awhile. Thanks

You haven’t been around until you run aground!

The ICW was so exciting today.  The tides were with us today, we ran at an average of 8.2knots/1690 rpm’s and our top speed  at full throttle is only 7.9 knots, we got a free ride.  There was a lot of interesting things to see, the houses along the way were gorgeous, we got to watch a guy catching shrimp, several bridges which one of them was a swing bridge.  I find those fascinating!  I started the day by making a loaf of bread for dinner, then 3 loads of  laundry, then 3 hours to give Ellie a haircut, then vacuumed everything (10 minute job) to get all the dog hair off the floors and took a bunch of pics in between chores.  Then the excitement.....we came around a bend and saw the marina we are staying in for the night.  It was not only low tide, but a King Tide. When the moon is full, the high tides are higher and the low tides are lower.  Normally we fit just fine in the marinas but oh no, not when there’s a King Tide.  We were greeted by the dock staff to help with lines, we noti

Built 1740 by a Babtist preacher that spread his religion along the East  Coast. Magnolia tree for Kitty. The last magnolia bloom.  Beautiful.. . Can you say traffic!! Moon set. Beautiful. Babtist preachers home. Sunrise this morning. Moon rise last night.  Ellie was so noe-vuss today.  We anticipated smooth seas but guess what.  It was the roughest day yet.  Poor Ellie stood between my legs, leaned on my shoulder and paced.  Today the big rumbler (the engine is the big rumbler, the generator is the little rumbler) was not her friend.  She normally is very at ease with the motion of the boat but it threw us around today.  We were up at 5am, left the dock at 6:20am and started clawing our way to Georgetown.  The trip started with rough water and it got worse the further we went, outgoing tides/current were a good 3knots, wind was 18-20 kn

Day of fun

Aaron, the diver, came this morning to clean the bottom of the boat, it took a little longer than expected. Knowing we had a 9.5 hr run, we decided to put off leaving  so as not to end up trying to dock in the dark and just stay another day in Charleston.  The next task we tackled was cleaning out the freezer that had all the rotten meat in it.  The smell was still horrendous even after putting the ozone machine in there for several hours.  We pulled out all the wire baskets and shelves, I scrubbed those clean and whiffed up the air along the dock, even the guys working the dock said they had noticed a little odor, yikes! Now that it is clean,  it does smell much better.  We showered to get the stench off and then Ubered into the Slave Market to do some shopping.  We found some fun things for an early Christmas shopping trip.  Fleet Landing Restaurant was our choice for dinner, David had his usual fried fish and shrimp.  He even enjoyed the grits and butter beans. I had blackened Tile
