Sunday, again????

Image
Is it Sunday again??  We started this morning by cleaning the dinghy, it was full of mildew.  The chemical we used worked like a charm...spray it on, wait a minute, then wipe off the stains.  Tah-duh!  David  cleaned the sump pump area again.  It still doesn't smell quite "pleasant".  He tackled the area under the guest sink, the bilge, and all the space in between.  Hopefully, things will smell like roses now.  The rest of day David worked at his real job and by the time 5:00 rolled around, he needed a drink!! Leslie called to remind us that Jake's Choral Concert was tonight, that helped some with the blood pressure, stories of his grandson always put a twinkle in his eye.  We went out to dinner and he ordered a Mai Tai (which is now called a Rum Runner), it had a nice rum floater on the top and by the time he finished his very leaded drink, his blood pressure had come down considerably, the man was about to blow a gasket!  Today was not overly busy but definitely s

Is it a Sunday?

It's another good day when the compounder/waxer guy shows up and on time to boot.  The parts of the boat that he has polished already look really nice.  Today was so slow you would have thought it was a Sunday.  David worked on the dinghy's Garmin a little more and I got out a shirt that needed some attention.  It was a beautiful day, 75 and 38% with a breeze, doesn't get much better than that.                     This is the beach in calm weather, the other night you saw the waves breaking on it.                                                                                      Really calm water.                                                                                                Sunset.                                                                  Sunrise, pic taken by David this morning.

It was a dark and stormy night

The bad weather has blown through and the water has calmed back down to it's normal state but boy last night it was quite dicey.  We were up at midnight putting more lines out on the the starboard pilings and more fenders on the port side,  just in case the wind blew more than the 30 knots we were currently seeing, the boat would be secure.  Capt David was concerned our little finger of a dock, since it has no piling at the end of it, might not withstand the wind and the entire weight of our boat being blown onto it and perhaps, simply break apart...with us tied to it.  That's a big insurance claim waiting to happen, groan.  After getting things as secure as we thought was necessary, we slept well while the weather normalized.  The cleaner guys showed up this morning, a 3 man crew and worked until 4pm.  The boat already looks better.  I got the rest of the boat cleaned, David had the disgusting job of cleaning the sump pump again, not a fun job.  We put the dinghy in the water,

Leon came today just like he said he would, that's a good thing!! He looked over the boat, gave us a bid to    compound and wax the entire boat above the water.  They agreed on a price and Leon's crew will be here in the morning and they                                                                       Crazy rough water at the dock today.                                                                            More crazy rough water.                                                                            And more crazy rough water.                                    My newly working and clean shower door.  Stanley salutes Capt. Dave.                                                                                      Tonight's sunset. hope to be finished by Friday.  I'm glad we travelled yesterday because today was snotty here at the dock.  There was a surge of at least 12" which doesn't sound like much until you're down below on your hands and k

Sunday is for sailboat races

Today was a travel day.  We went from Annapolis to Kent Narrows, MD.  The boat cleaner guy is supposed to be here  tomorrow morning at 8am.  He's going to clean and polish the entire boat, not just the hull as I thought, woohoo! We only ran about 3.5 hours and it was a little snotty out there.  All the sailboat races are on Sunday so we had lots of things to navigate around and dodge.  It appears that during weekends all the big tankers that anchor out in the bay were joined by many more tankers than usual, there were 13 instead of the regular 8 that are anchored out here. We have a nice view off the back deck of the boat, a great cool breeze and the band playing from 3-7pm and we even knew the words to the songs, ha Sailboats heading for the race start line. This huge boat went past us at 18 knots, the wake he made splashed over our side rails.           View from the back deck, the restaurant, the band and the white tent is for a high school reunion.

After sleeping till 10:15 this morning, we got cleaned up and went into town for one last explore.  We stopped at the Iron Rooster for brunch.  The portions were huge and really tasty, too tasty as we ate almost everything on our plates.  We have heard there is a lot of very interesting documents in the State Legislature Building.  David headed that direction while I made a shortstop at the hand thrown pottery store.  They had some beautiful pieces and I would have brought a few home, but there's that "no more room on the boat" thing,  the pieces were quite spendy and they are very breakable.  I left empty handed and decided to think about it and go back if something was nagging me with "I should have bought that".  I followed David to the Legislature Building.  We had to go through security and wear our masks, but once we got to the exhibits,  masks were forgotten about.  This place gave me goose bumps it was so awe inspiring.  Did you know that George Washing
