Boss Bobby was absent again today. He volunteered to come install our hydraulic hoses tomorrow, Saturday, his day off. Management said no overtime, doggone again. David was out on the dock and Boss Bobby came up to him, put both his hands on David’s shoulders and said, “I may have good news for you!” Boss Bobby called management and explained without anybody else here to bug him, he could come and get the hoses “knocked out”. Music to my ears!! He said he’d be here around 9am, I said, “I’ll have lemon bars ready for you”. Don’t know if he can get all the hoses installed, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed! We both did more cleaning today. I got a razor blade and scraped off some dried varnish drips that a previous, sloppy painter had smeared all over the boat when he was applying varnish to the teak rails. I moved inside and scraped the edges and corners of the floors so get them really clean. I applied a cle...
The day started out nicely. Grant FaceTimed us, he and Harrison were hanging out at home. Grant got him to smile sooo big several times we even got to watch Daddy do Harrison’s tongue exercises (tongue movement so everything heals correctly). The smiles were real and intentional, not just hot air came out of my butt kind of smiles!!🤪 It was so great to see them both! I got the great idea to try my hand at crabbing, we took a chicken thigh and tied it with string to the crab trap, I thought it was pretty secure but I was wrong. The first time we pulled the trap up, a big crab make a fast escape, the next pull we had a baby crab, the third pull we found the chicken thigh completely gone and no crab, and one of the lines that pulls up the sides to trap the crabs inside had been chewed off. We pulled it up may more times but still no crab. But I am not giving up! We had a squall come through the marina, we heard noise, it was lots of rain, looked u...
What a beautiful morning we woke up to. The water is like glass, I love the reflections when it is like that. I took Ellie up to the grass and saw the office had opened early so I popped my head in and asked them about the alligators. Last year they had this really big gator that hung around. He was so big they could see him from far away swimming up the channel. He would not get up on the docks but he did enjoy the grassy areas. Keep your dog on the leash!! As I am more terrified of alligators than I am even of bears and I am happy to say, I didn't see Mr. Gator! I'll take their word for it. Another day, another issue. 😜 Let's hope it's easily solved. I tried to start the generator this morning, it wouldn't stay on. Captain tried it and the same thing happened for him. Out comes the owner's manual to see if there is an obvious fix. We decided we could run without the generator and began...
