Captain Bernie saves the day!
What an exciting day we have had. Captain Bernie arrived yesterday and today we actually got to take the boat out and drive it around. David got to practice his docking skills. It was a test of determination as the wind was blowing and the current was flowing. As we were trying to dock one more time, I heard this noise that sounded like it was from a scene in Star Trek. It was a noise I’d never heard before on our boat, good thing because it was our bow thruster taking a dump. At that point we had to call the marina, Seabrook Marina, two of the owners, thank you Aaron and Stephanie, came down to help us get back onto the dock, even with Captain Bernie at the helm it was an adventure but we made it with no damage to the boat, dock or people. At this point, David and I were getting so discouraged. The plan was to leave New Orleans in the morning at 6am and I could see those plans going up in smoke, much the same as the bow thruster, ha. I was afraid we’d have to get a diver to go down in the water and look at the thrusters, but David told me no, they would have to pull the boat completely out of the water. Oh my, neither seemed to be a quick solution.....but as the title says, Captain Bernie saved the day. He went into our stateroom, folded our mattress back (it folds in half), removed the stuff that we has stashed below the bed,
took the panels off and Houdini-ed his 6’3” self into this very small space. He stayed in that hole for 90 minutes while we fed him tool after tool. He managed to find the problem AND fix it too! So....we are back on track for leaving in the morning, Hallelujah!! (Hear the trumpets playing??). Tomorrow will start our voyage and hopefully I will have some good pics and stories to share. Thanks for stopping by❤️Pic 1. Captain Bernie fixing the bow thruster. 2. The new refrigerator that works perfectly now.
