Wet pillows in St. Augustine, FL

Our run was short today, 3hours. On our way we had to put the pedal to the metal to pass a really big barge.  The  ICW is not overly wide and is comparable to passing on a highway in your car....you have to have plenty of room to pass and you have to go faster than the guy you’re passing.  The barge was going about 6.8 knots and when we floored it, we were able to pass him going  a whopping 7.6 knots. Shortly after that we were near enough to call the marina for instructions for the night. The dockmaster assigned us mooring ball #17.  We found it easily, got the boat hook out and tried to recall exactly how the guy on You Tube did it this morning. Love You Tube! Captain Bernie would have been proud of our fine You Tube reenactment. We lowered the dinghy into the water and went in to pay our fees.  We actually made the round trip four times. We came back to the boat the first time to get David’s shoes, second time to get pooie bags for Ellie, just in case, third time was for Ellie’s leash and the last time for our masks.  St. George street was so very fun!  It’s a walking street and there are great shops everywhere.  You could put on 5# just window shopping at all the eateries. We made the trip back to the boat, had Pad Thai that I made out of a box from the grocery store. It is worth trying again to not wreck it up.  A giant thunderstorm rolled in, water just poured down on the boat. Then our kids called from the baby shower that was happening for my son’s first child.  We chatted and chatted and talked about how hard it was raining and then David and I realized every hatch, porthole, window and door on the boat was open!!!  We used every dry towel we had to mop up the copious amount of water that was everywhere.  Right now the mattress pad for our bed is in the dryer (the escape hatch over our bed was open all the way). Next the pillows will go into the dryer.  Bet we don’t make this mistake again!!

Another pirate ship in Florida.

St. Augustine.

This guy would jump out and scare the passerby’s.

A mysterious box was found abandoned in the middle of a park.  So, I know, let’s all stand around and watch to see if it’s going to blow up, geez!!!
The rain storm, guy scaring people, church bells, taffy machine, carriage rides.
