Birthday in Bellhaven, NC

 Today is David’s birthday, mine was 5 days ago.  To celebrate, I am making a birthday cake, once a year, I make a cake, what a treat! It’s baking while we look out our windows to watch a storm. It is one of those red spots on the weather channel.  We just washed and dried the boat, that insured that it would rain, ha. I guess the funny but not so funny thing is, here at Dowry Marina, they have free laundry machines and anything remotely not spotless, is up in the machines washing and/or drying as we speak.  We took some plastic bags up to the laundry room to put the dry clothes into and rushed back to the boat before we got completely drenched.  Now the other 2 loads are drying while I fix scallops and ahi tuna for dinner.  So....when I was 10 years old I would go to bed and in my head, I would make a list of 10 things that I accomplished that day.  It wasn’t hard.  If I was to make that list today it would include: make the bed, check, wash the boat, check, do 4 loads of laundry, check, do dishes 3 times, check x3, make a cake, check, write the blog, check, emailed a couple of friends, check, researched some places to go in the boat next week, check, got fuel, check, filled the water tank, check, emptied the holding tank, check.  It’s been a good day times 10, check.  Today we went from Hobuckin NC to Bellhaven NC, 22 miles, 3 hrs.  Hi to Anne, Jackie and welcome Jan.  Thanks for stopping by❤️

    Happy Birthday David. I'd wish you lots of cake to help celebrate, but looking at that cake, I'm going to suggest a margarita instead. (Love you Pam) Hey, it's the thought that counts, right? Wonderful pictures today, as always, but I'm especially enjoying the one of the kids. I haven't seen pictures of Grant in a long time, he looks great, and I'm so happy he's about to be a dad, hope to meet Ashley someday. Jake gets a cousin. Leslie looks just like I remember when you all lived in Oregon City, and I have such wonderful memories of Grants graduation. Good times, loving memories of my favorite aunt and uncle. Stay safe, enjoy the next journey up the coast. Love you both.

    Happy Birthday David. I think the cake looks good, the frosting looks like your brownie frosting!! I still cant figure how a mouse can sneak on your boat. Maybe Elle can help find it. Hope the mosquitos are gone, that looked miserable. Have fun!

      David says thanks, maybe the mouse came up one of the lines from the dock. Haven’t seen any “new presents” in a few days. Maybe he has jumped ship, ha. Off to Bellhaven in the morning, storm coming in so headed to marina for a safe tie up.❤️❤️

 Still waiting on estimates for the work that needs to be done, still waiting to catch the rat (we’ve decided it has to be a rat). We were awakened at 5:45 am by a big noise, yay we got him! No we didn’t, it sounded like the trap was sprung and he was dragging it around trying to get out of it, but no he was up in the ceiling above our bed doing God knows what.  We are positive there is no food around, just the snickers in the traps and we take the dog water bowl up every night too.  David did find the sump pump (the showers and sinks go into there and are pumped overboard) had overflowed and water was in the compartments below the floors so it could have had shampoo water to drink.  It’s been over 2weeks I think that we have been chasing it, grrrr.  We left the dock and are anchored right off the marina, close enough to poach their internet 😬.  Tomorrow we go out into Chesapeake Bay and to the Eastern Shore.  This weekend we will be in Onancock, VA a...

You haven’t been around until you run aground!

 The ICW was so exciting today.  The tides were with us today, we ran at an average of 8.2knots/1690 rpm’s and our top speed  at full throttle is only 7.9 knots, we got a free ride.  There was a lot of interesting things to see, the houses along the way were gorgeous, we got to watch a guy catching shrimp, several bridges which one of them was a swing bridge.  I find those fascinating!  I started the day by making a loaf of bread for dinner, then 3 loads of  laundry, then 3 hours to give Ellie a haircut, then vacuumed everything (10 minute job) to get all the dog hair off the floors and took a bunch of pics in between chores.  Then the excitement.....we came around a bend and saw the marina we are staying in for the night.  It was not only low tide, but a King Tide. The brunch on Mother’s Day

 Hmmm, what should I write about today? I know, THE BRUNCH!  We moved the boat into a new marina this morning. The guys on the dock gave us some restaurant suggestions.  We decided we’d walk into town to go to the grocery store and if we saw someplace that looked good, we’d stop by for a little brunch.  Well, let me tell ya’. Did we find the place that is the most-ut (as Rosie used to say on the Jetsons). I have pics of it all,  bear with me while I relive our “little brunch”.   After eating copious amounts of the best Southern food, we decided we better walk the 1.5 miles to the grocery store.  It would be the smallest provisioning we have done yet, nothing looked good after eating all those scrumptious dishes.  We did indeed just buy just a few things, called the guy from the dock and he came into town to pick us up.  There is no Uber here yet so that was very nice of him to volunteer.  His entire truck was filled with, with, with, Fir...
