Day in Beaufort, NC
I slept through sunrise, it was nice to sleep but I do wonder if it was pretty, hmmmm. We borrowed the courtesy car again from the marina to fill the propane tanks and go to the Post Office. I found a cute t-shirt that I’m sure our new grandson will love as soon as he is here to wear it. It was so tiny it almost fit into a regular mail envelope. We found a fresh seafood store, oh my gosh, I could have stayed for an hour to look at all the crabs, clams, 15+ kinds of fish, oysters. We picked out some fish that was very similar to redfish, amazingly delicious, some huge crab claws and monkfish. Later, we did some Christmas shopping, if I’m not careful, shopping will be done by July🤪 The maritime museum was open, we wandered through there, saw the artifacts from Blackbeard’s ship. That was pretty fascinating, there were things as small as pins, the kind you use when attaching a sewing pattern to fabric to as large as cannons and the cannon balls. A display was posted that told how long different things took to disintegrate in the ocean. Plastic bottles, 500 years, that is a disgrace. A whale skeleton hung from the ceiling, HUGE! I did forget to mention the good news for the day. David was able to get the stabilizer company on the phone and spoke to their guru. He gave David a few things to try to see if indeed the stabilizer was going to have to be replaced (8 weeks out of the water, we’d be homeless, not to mention the enormous cost). Well damned if the darn thing didn’t move after all. It seems that there is more of a wiring problem than a “it’s frozen/won’t move” problem. Huge issue solved for us. We can continue to mosey up the East Coast and see if we can get to Maine. Tomorrow we start the big rumbler around 10am and point it towards Oriental, NC. Thanks for stopping by!
