Beauty

It was another hot day in Boatland, 102 & 56%.  And the a/c is not working.  Our stateroom has a separate air that is working still, thank goodness but the rest of the boat was without air, yuck! David had to be here while they worked on the a/c so I took the truck and went into the big lights of Gloucester (pronounced glaw-ster with the local dialect), population 3000.  For such a small town they have an enormous amount of commercial shopping, restaurants and a great little ice cream shop! I went to Lowe’s for a big fan to help circulate the hot air on the boat and also found some plumbing pieces that are needed to fix that big leak in the lazarette.  I stopped at Aldi grocery store to see if they carried Snappy Grillers, the hot dogs we discovered and really like.  We are down to 3 packages so I am on the hunt to replenish our supply.  With no luck at Aldi, I stopped at King Lion and did some grocery shopping, no Snappy Grillers there either but they did have a lot of gluten free items that are hard to find so I bought a few.  As I was driving back to Deltaville, I began to notice how beautiful this part of the country is.  There are so many little and older churches, most have those really tall spires and cemeteries that adjoin them.  There are wishing wells in the front yards,  beautiful flowers all in bloom everywhere, the corn fields are now taller than me and so many other field crops that I tried to guess what was being grown.  There are roadside stands selling the local produce and most have a fresh seafood selection, a pick your own blackberry patch and the crepe myrtles are trees, not bushes and they are all in bloom! The colors are whites, pinks and that beautiful fuchsia color, the same color as the bougainvilleas, the Barbara Karst variety, the popular one we see in Phoenix. And for Kitty, the magnolia trees are huge, the leaves are so big and shiny and..they are starting to bloom here. I took Ellie for one last potty walk tonight and when we got to the field, there were fireflies everywhere.  I just sat and enjoyed watching them for awhile. Well,

Found this in the Lowe’s nursery.  Don’t know what it is , never seen it before but the blooms were as big as your wide open hand.

Quaint church with blooming crepe Myrtle

Visa machine, really!

Tall spire on this church.

More crepe Myrtle.

I had the yummiest ice cream here.

the boat still has repairs to be finished but at least we are stranded in an extremely beautiful part of our country.
