Crabbing

The day started out nicely.  Grant FaceTimed us, he and Harrison were hanging out at home. Grant got him to smile sooo big several times we even got to watch Daddy do Harrison’s tongue exercises  (tongue movement so everything heals correctly). The smiles were real and intentional, not just hot air came out of my butt kind of smiles!!🤪 It was so great to see them both!  I got the great idea to try my hand at crabbing, we took a chicken thigh and tied it with string to the crab trap, I thought it was pretty secure but I was wrong.  The first time we pulled the trap up, a big crab make a fast escape, the next pull we had a baby crab, the third pull we found the chicken thigh completely gone and no crab,  and one of the lines that pulls up the sides to trap the crabs inside had been chewed off. We pulled it up may more times but still no crab. But I am not giving up!  We had a squall come through the marina, we heard noise, it was lots of rain, looked up and the wind was blowing at least 35 knots. We dogged down the doors (that means the extra handle that tightens up the seal on the doors so water can’t come in) as the rain was coming down sideways, thanks to the wind.  Our luxuries are still working…a/c, water etc.  Here’s a new one you probably won’t read about anywhere else, ha.  I keep smelling this smell, a good smell from when I was a young child, at Christmas time.  I usually got a new baby doll and since they were made out of rubber in those days, they had a very unique smell.  I loved it!  Short story long, every time I go down to the staterooms I sniff New Baby Dolls smell (it’s from the new, rubber sanitary hoses that were installed while we were gone).  I think of my baby dolls, I still have a couple of them in our storage unit.  I got 2 of

Proud Daddy.

Thank you Annie Chris for the nice present!

the same doll one year, they were the twins, Sally Sue had polio (her legs were all bent funny from me carrying her so much) and there was the one with dark, short curly hair.  I don’t remember her first name but her middle name was Sue like every baby doll I had.  I was only allowed to take one baby when we went somewhere, and I always fretted terribly about having to choose, I didn’t want the ones left behind to be sad. 😬. Well, what a pleasant trip down Memory Lane every time I go below deck, just because of the new sanitary hoses.
