We tricked the Bridge
Today we outsmarted the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi River. We have been dreading the never ending line of traffic to cross the River, figuring it could take hours. We have been watching the maps app for 24 hours trying to figure out if the traffic was ever less, I didn’t really want to be driving at 11pm. As we were keeping an eye on things all day, we saw the traffic was getting more congested so we decided to go to dinner before getting in line. We found a GREAT Mexican food restaurant, Margarita Grill, in West Memphis, see the pics. The traffic died down a little while we were at dinner but there was no more stalling, just get in line. Then David found a shortcut, a side street, that dumped directly onto the freeway right at the beginning of the bridge…..and there was nobody in front of us. We merged with traffic. From the time we left the restaurant parking lot until we were across to the other side, it was a mere 6 minutes!!! Hal-la- freakin- luyah!! We checked into the hotel, watched The Help movie (9minutes of movie then 20 commercials, did that 3times and changed the channel, couldn’t take it any longer). We’ll watch the final soccer game even though we saw the end result of the match at the restaurant. Oh, and did you see the Virgin Space launch today! Oh my gosh, was that not the most amazing thing? $250,000, 90 minutes, 3 minutes of weightlessness I think I would do that, if there was enough Dramamine, ha. And Happy 92nd Birthday to my Mother!13 hours of driving left, probably 2 days. Drove from Oklahoma City to Memphis Tennessee, 485 miles, 7.5 hours.
