Another fun day

What a day! It was hot and humid but what’s new.  You either brave the temperature in this amazing place or you sit inside your 500 sqft and grumble about how hot it is. David went to get a haircut, pic to follow.  I went to my favorite store here in Annapolis and managed to find a few things I couldn’t live without.  One of the best finds was the windup crab, it made me giggle. I was having so much fun the sales clerk asked me if I wanted a job…they were hiring and serious. I would have if I lived here.  I met David at Pusser’s Bar for a Painkiller.  We stopped at the gift shop and the woman asked me if I’d ever been BVI, (I had my Painkiller visor on) hmmm, yes I have, did you have a Painkiller there? No, it’s the name of our boat. She thought that was hilarious and said if you buy a Painkiller t-shirt, I’ll give you the 2nd one free.  So we did.  Nice lady, she made it a fun event for us.  We went on out to the bar, had our Painkillers and watched what they have dubbed, Ego Alley.  It’s a long finger of water at the marina and people cruise by on their boats to the end, pivot the boat and drive back to show off to all the people in the bars and restaurants.  Today there weren’t too many impressive boats, 2 big sport fishers did finally cruise by. Last time we were there, it was a solid stream, bumper to bumper, of big boats and it was standing room only at the bar. It was quite sedate today.  The rainstorm was more of a show than the boats.  It poured!! There was big lightening, huge and close thunder.  We had dinner reservations but there was no way I was walking to the restaurant in that downpour.  David checked out an Uber, $37 to go about a quarter of a mile, no thanks. We ended up calling the restaurant to tell them we couldn’t make it.  There were so many other cancellations besides us that we were able to snag a reservation an hour later.  We went back to the boat to check on Ellie, she hates storms!  We also had to change clothes as we were soaked to the skin.  We went back into town for dinner, a French restaurant. We waited 45 minutes and I was getting hangry.  But then she brought this HUGE platter of chateaubriand (24 oz of filet) and vegetables that were to die for.  You know they were good when we ate every single veggie and then brought home 16 oz of meat.  The eclair and creme caramel (flan) finished off our meal. It was amazing and I felt terrible for being a little grumpy with the waitress.  I loved that the hot food was still steaming and the cold dessert was very cold.  I can’t even manage that when I cook and serve dinner at home. Anyway, a great day in Boatland.
