Saint Michaels MD, day 2
After a late night, we all slept until 7:15am, including Harrison. Grant and Ashley walked into town to have a cup of joe and enjoy the morning coolness. Thank goodness it seems like the summer weather has finally broken and we are having cooler days and beautiful nights.
This morning I went out on the back deck and the local ducks had visited us last night. And you know how I know?? There was duck poop everywhere, on the swim step and even splattered on the transom (the “wall” that the name of the boat is on), oh my gosh, so gross. They decorated about 30yards of dock too. Grant and I hosed it all off, it came off pretty easily and at least didn’t stain, thank you for small favors.
Ashley, Harrison and I went back into town to do some shopping. As usual, we found a few things we couldn’t live without and even Santa found some presents.
We had a milestone today. Grant and Ashley went to lunch by themselves!! Nanny and Chief got to babysit for their first alone outing since Harrison was born. David and I loaded up the stroller and we went to lunch also. Harrison was great company and to prove it, I sent several pics of him being safe and sound, asleep, being fed, not sunburned, not fussing and just being cute in general to his parents. They were sitting in a different restaurant across the water about 75 yards away and could watch us going back to the boat after we finished our lunch. I got a text from them asking if I had parked the stroller correctly, we didn’t know they could see us so it was pretty funny.
The kids went to the swimming pool, the cold swimming pool. Mr Harrison got to wear his swimsuit again but still it did not get wet. They dangled his little pigs in the water but I think he wasn’t really into it.
The restaurant Crab Claw has been recommended to us by many fellow boaters. After getting cleaned up for the day, we again loaded up the stroller and started walking towards the restaurant. As we crossed over this very picturesque bridge one of us said, “wouldn’t it be funny if it was closed on Mondays?” Well, it is closed on Mondays. We began searching for a restaurant that happened to be open on a Monday, we found an Italian place that made great pizza! A quart of ice cream waited for us in the freezer on the boat. The top half was dulce de leche and tomorrow’s half will be super chocolatey chocolate with chocolate and more chocolate mixed in.
A good day in Boatland was had by all, except maybe Harrison’s pig dipping and Ellie didn’t seem to enjoy her Kong with yogurt and grape jelly mixed together. Ok, I know, what was I thinking when I mixed the jelly in, yuck!
