Last day

The kids left this afternoon and I am very sad.  It was so great to see them and have them on the boat.  They both were wonderful guests!!  We're hoping to have them back after Jake has to go to Alabama this summer.  Jake seemed to like going out on our boat and also getting to go out on  Kirk's boat too, driving was fun for him.  He also had fun just going to the pool with that water skipping ball I got for him and making some new friends while they played with it.  You could just see Leslie relax a little bit each day, I think she really needed some down time.  We made a quick stop at the Cuban restaurant at the end of the street, Leslie thoroughly enjoyed the pork and rice, Jake wasn't feeling very adventurous so he had a cheeseburger.  For now we'll just wait for the kids to get back to Phoenix safely and then start laundry tomorrow.  It was great having them and makes me realize how much I really do miss my family!   

PS we've discovered that our tiny area in the marina (8 boats) has either no internet signal or less than dial-up (does anybody even remember that?).  I am now up at the Captain's Quarters, a comfortable, cool room that overlooks the entire marina, it has no TV so no constant death and disaster reports and  lightening fast internet.  I can't remember what videos I have tried to upload so I'll just upload a bunch while I have the bandwidth.

    I'm sure they had an incredible time with you and David. Now they can understand when you talk about your adventure, they know what the boat really looks like, and they know why you're so thrilled to be doing what you've waited years to do, and they know they can join you any time. So happy you had a great time with them, I'm sure they did too. Hugs and love.

    I hope they had as much fun being here as we did having them here. They were great guests and we hope they can come back very soon! I think they do have a better sense of what it’s like to be on the boat, it’s simple and without an over abundance of stuff. I’ve found I just really don’t need 6 potato peelers, ha. Love you❤️❤️

We toured the Battleship Wisconsin today.  We spent 5hours crawling around the ship and we both were in awe.  There’s too much to write about, so today you can just look at the pictures. Here goes: A Navy ship that had one gun manned by a crew of Marines.  This was the Marine emblem drawn by one of the Marine gunners when he was 19.  When he turned 85, the Navy brought him out so that he could climb up on scaffolding in 100 degrees heat.  It took him 4 days to complete the emblem being restored.  He was in heaven that the Navy had honored him with the task. This is gunpowder that is compressed into pellets, there are 256 pellets in one bag, it takes 6 bags to fire one gun one time. Highest point on the ship.  It’s basically the pilot house. Patch Day

  The Coast Guard issued a small craft wind advisory this morning.  We went anyway.  The winds were at 35knots, seas at 4' with a 2 second interval (that means every 2 seconds a 4' wave hits you).  A rule of thumb is 4' x 2 = 8, so a 4' wave should not be closer together than every 8seconds or you're going to get the crap knocked our of you.  We did get the crap knocked out of us.  I had to use another patch but, once again, it worked like a champ and Ellie had an L-Theanine .   A bouncing buoy, guessing it weighs 2000#        Bouncing boats    Writing the blog, David took a pic of how close we are to the bow of the mega yacht that's 3' off our swim step  That dark thing is their anchor   Bouillabaisse !!! and it was really good, loved the mussels   David's Captain's Platter, grouper, shrimp, scallops with garlic mashers and cheesy grits   Tropical Rum Punch, sweet but good!   Sign telling about the manatees   The marina's pet parrot   And if it&

Ruff Ruff day on the ocean

Shrimpers in the marina. Historical home, built  1740.  Built  1780. Built same time. Mom!! Me no like this ride. Painkiller. Container ship. New hat. Built 1740 by a Babtist preacher that spread his religion along the East  Coast. Magnolia tree for Kitty. The last magnolia bloom.  Beautiful.. . Can you say traffic!! Moon set. Beautiful. Moon rise last night.  Ellie was so noe-vuss today.  We anticipated smooth seas but guess what.  It was the roughest day yet.  Poor Ellie stood between my legs, leaned on my shoulder and paced.  Today the big rumbler (the engine is the big rumbler, the generator is the little rumbler) was not her friend.  She normally is very at ease with the motion of the boat but it threw us around today.  We were up at 5am, left the dock at 6:20am and started clawing our way to Georgetown.  The trip started with rough water and it got worse the further we went, outgoing tides/current were a good 3knots, wind was 18-20 kn
