Manatee at Captiva Island

Captiva Island is an amazing place, our favorite place so far.  The beaches are wonderful and the shells!!!!  Oh, the shells, I spent a couple of hours combing the water's edge looking for that perfect shell,  I seemed to have found a ziplock baggie full of them. I saw a picture frame covered with shells and I thought it might be a fun project to make one with the shells I found myself from our travels.      David and I both have let the better of our horticultural geekiness rise to a level of fascination with the local vegetation and flowers. There are so many plants that we have never seen before and so we find this place quite fascinating. There are lots of pics of some of them. David was walking along the dock, looked down and there was a manatee munching on seagrass, that was pretty cool!  PS. Bad internet, really bad internet.  All the pics won't load so I will post them tomorrow. 😔   We stayed at Pink Shell for a couple of days and today we went from Pink Shell (Ft Meyers Beach), 19 miles and 3 hours.  It was really shallow in places but we made it fine.

Pink bougainvillea, that's a new one!
