Big news!

 Harrison Kruft was born yesterday!  Mom Ashley was in active labor for 25 hours, Grant said she was a trooper! Stats: born 5-28-21, 11:24am, 5 lb 13oz, 19.5”.  He is already nursing, doesn’t cry much, very alert. So that has been our life for the last 24 hours. We are immensely happy that everyone is doing well, all are healthy (except Ashley did test positive for Covid, no wonder she has been feeling so bad these last 2-3 weeks.  Guessing Grant has it too).  I am very sad to not be in Phoenix to see all of my family.  We are thinking about driving home next week and leaving the boat at the boatyard to have the repairs done.  So back in Boatland, there are a million flies, the weather is cold, rainy and windy.  We got a tour of the town from the only cab driver in town, it was pretty fast, it’s a small town.  Tomorrow we are going to the Crab Festival.  Looking forward to that.  Rat update.....we took the stove out and found a hole big enough for the rat to get through but not the sticky trap.  It had pulled off of the trap which was still there and full of long rat hair, yuck!!     Wow, those two babies look a lot alike. Love that DNA. The rat cracks me up. He has certainly controlled you two for a couple weeks now. Do you think all the other rats high-five him every
    time David has to take something else apart to search? Enjoy the Crab Fest.

    I hope you got the rat zapper so when you leave it is caught! Maybe the repair people can find it!
    Harrison is precious! I want to cuddle him~ I bet you cannot be near him until they are all well so

 The ICW was so exciting today.  The tides were with us today, we ran at an average of 8.2knots/1690 rpm’s and our top speed  at full throttle is only 7.9 knots, we got a free ride.  There was a lot of interesting things to see, the houses along the way were gorgeous, we got to watch a guy catching shrimp, several bridges which one of them was a swing bridge.  I find those fascinating!  I started the day by making a loaf of bread for dinner, then 3 loads of  laundry, then 3 hours to give Ellie a haircut, then vacuumed everything (10 minute job) to get all the dog hair off the floors and took a bunch of pics in between chores.  Then the excitement.....we came around a bend and saw the marina we are staying in for the night.  It was not only low tide, but a King Tide. Tour of the Battleship Wisconsin

We toured the Battleship Wisconsin today.  We spent 5hours crawling around the ship and we both were in awe.  There’s too much to write about, so today you can just look at the pictures. Here goes: A Navy ship that had one gun manned by a crew of Marines.  This was the Marine emblem drawn by one of the Marine gunners when he was 19.  When he turned 85, the Navy brought him out so that he could climb up on scaffolding in 100 degrees heat.  It took him 4 days to complete the emblem being restored.  He was in heaven that the Navy had honored him with the task. This is gunpowder that is compressed into pellets, there are 256 pellets in one bag, it takes 6 bags to fire one gun one time. Highest point on the ship.  It’s basically the pilot house. More chores

 Thank goodness it cooled off today.  It’s 66 right now, perfect in my world, sweatshirt weather to most. David decided to change the oil in the generator, it took him 45 mins and he was happy to have that behind him.  Then he decided to rewire the electric cord that we plug into the dock, he’s been wanting to do that for 2 months.  I got out my sewing machine and finished the bed comforter.  We got to talking to our neighbor in the slip next to us, we both had reservations to go to the little restaurant by the marina office.  As of 3:30 they were open but then closed because they didn’t have enough staff to open for dinner.  There went our dinner plans. Our neighbors invited us to go into town to a restaurant that oysters were the specialty.  Neither David nor I am into raw oysters, so we passed on the oysters.
