The brunch on Mother’s Day

Hmmm, what should I write about today? I know, THE BRUNCH!  We moved the boat into a new marina this morning. The guys on the dock gave us some restaurant suggestions.  We decided we’d walk into town to go to the grocery store and if we saw someplace that looked good, we’d stop by for a little brunch.  Well, let me tell ya’. Did we find the place that is the most-ut (as Rosie used to say on the Jetsons). I have pics of it all,  bear with me while I relive our “little brunch”.   After eating copious amounts of the best Southern food, we decided we better walk the 1.5 miles to the grocery store.  It would be the smallest provisioning we have done yet, nothing looked good after eating all those scrumptious dishes.  We did indeed just buy just a few things, called the guy from the dock and he came into town to pick us up.  There is no Uber here yet so that was very nice of him to volunteer.  His entire truck was filled with, with, with,

Fire Dept, notice the fire boat to the left side of the pic!

Crab poster in the restaurant.

L to R succotash, Mac & cheese, little red potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sliced turkey.

We would have paid $30 each for that meal!
L to R sliced turkey, bbq brisket NC style with vinegar, fried shrimp that David said was amazing! And fried chicken to die for.
Gaggle of geese in the park.

 Broad  beans and broccoli augratin.

Fish Hooks Cafe, the BRUNCH place.

Police Dept, their boat isn’t as  fancy as the Fire Depts boat. Looks like a nice little house from the outside.  Think there’s a jail inside?
The salad bar.

Our view from the marina.

The marina office.

Plus we added another small plate for just a little more of the pistachio marshmallow fluff, a  dish for cake, sweet potatoes, broccoli salad, even the red jello was better than usual.  Copious amount of food, right! No dinner for us!

A cool old building with  2 layers of red brick.

Crab, the town mascot.

Cornbread and pineapple cobbler.

Cute decorations inside the dining room.

Hope the videos play.  There just the waves and wind

guy junk??? Metal stuff, big plastic things, large canvas bags full of more guy stuff.  The inside of the truck was the same,  only the stuff was smaller stuff. David got in the back jump seat, pulled his shoulders together and said close the door, quick.  I sat in the front seat with the cans, bottles and half smoked cigs.  He apologized for all the stuff, bless his heart.  We were just extremely grateful we didn’t have to walk back to the boat! The wind storm started about the time we got back to the boat. It’s blowing consistently about 25 mph and gusting to 35.  All the boats are rocking and rolling, great for a Mother’s Day Nap.  I hope all you Mother’s out there are having a wonderful day as we all think of our children and give them mental hugs and kisses and hope they know what joy they bring everyday into our lives.  Thanks for celebrating the day with me!❤️

  1. Looked like a lot of good food. We searched for a place for a Mother's day dinner, we failed. Ended up with steaks and lobster on the grill. It was amazing, Robyn and Mike did the cooking. The water looks a little choppy. Do you have much issue with seasickness? I'm pretty sure I would. I loved your comment about hoping our kids know what joy they bring into our lives. Just like reading about family on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure on the sea. Hugs.
