Mouse chasing began at 6:30 am this morning, no trapping today. The mouse was so bold last night, he was everywhere except (I hope) our stateroom. There were so many big! poops that I had to vacuum first thing. We are just not having any luck, next we’re trying Anne’s suggestion of Snickers. Since we have no access to a car, we don’t get to go shopping very often, but Snickers is at the top of the list. Remember the sailboat that took our perfect anchoring spot yesterday? Well, he left this morning and we quickly pulled up the anchor to move the boat. We “practiced” (meaning we didn’t pick the right place to start the process, ha) our anchoring 3-4 times before we were satisfied. The weather was pretty nice so we launched the dinghy to take Ellie to the beach for a swimming lesson. But before we could play we thought we might tackle the ICW “mustache” that now covered the bow and sides of the boat. The water in the ICW looks like strong coffee, we’ve been told there are tannins in the water that make it that color and it stains really badly. David had asked around how to remove the stain and was told about a product that should work, basically hydrochloric acid. It took it right off, along with the wax job, ha. Boy does it look good again. Ellie got her life vest on and then she and I waited till David helped pull some boat off the sandbar. We knew where it was because, yes, we found it the hard way yesterday. The funny one was the lady motoring her sailboat at Mach 9, I knew they were headed straight for the shallow. Sure enough, she plowed right into it. The front of the boat stopped abruptly, the stern of the boat went about 18” into the air. Visualize a bicycle hitting a rock and the rider flying over the handlebars, that’s what happen to the lady driving too fast. Karma’s a bitch. So back to David pulling the boat off the sandbar. They tried different ways several times, another guy in a dinghy came by to help too. There was a lot of pushing and pulling and finally the boat slid into deeper water. Ellie got to go to the beach and chase her favorite toy. Once I threw it into deeper water and she started high stepping trying to find her dearest possession which kept going going under the water. After a couple of attempts she actually did swim. The sand on the beach was more like muck with little jellyfish looking things in it. And it smelled badly too. She got tired and started walking towards the dinghy, she wanted to leave, so we did. It was a busy day, we got a good core workout cleaning the boat and even a little sunburn too.PS. The internet is so bad tonight, will post the videos in the morning❤️
Yes, Sir
We made it to Palmetto, FL. The winds were still blowing too much, the water was still Coast Guard departure Jake and Harrison playing on the Ipad We had a stowaway, we turned him loose when we got close to shore, I didn't know how far they can fly so better safe than sorry Our soldiers at work!! Jake will be 14 in a few months Harrison is 11 months rough but what a gorgeous shade of teal blue! We only saw a few dolphin but none came to play along side of the boat. I used the patch again and Ellie had her L-Theanine so we both tolerated the rocking' and rollin' better. When we only had 3 hours left to go to reach the marina, we were hailed by the Coast Guard. Oh, crimany, what did we do or not do??? We were asked to put the boat in neutral, did we have any weapons on board and may they come aboard for a safety check? We did as asked, they pulled up beside us and came aboard. ...
Is it sad I'm kinda cheering for the mouse? Just kidding. Love the geese. Enjoy tomorrow.
