Oriental, NC

Weather report was ugly for our leg of travel today. We heard from the scuttlebut on the docks that the winds were 25-35 knots, gusts to 60.  With only one stabilizer working, we thought twice about moving on or staying another day in Beaufort.  We called the dock master to confirm the information, weather had improved he said. So we started the big rumbler and off we went.  It was a little bumpy but not bad until we got into a stretch of water with a lot of fetch (the distance from land for the waves to really build up).  I did have to put on my Relief Band for all the rolling and bouncing.  The docking was a little bit of a challenge but as usual, David did great and pulled into the slip that only allowed us about 8” extra

When our beds get covered in pine needles in Phoenix, we rake them up, in NC they’re used as decorative mulch.

on each side of the boat. We walked into town, saw a few fun things and came back for a dip in the rather cold swimming pool. We had crab claws, local, for dinner with a nice salad. I got to talk to my daughter and my Mother tonight, it’s good to hear their voices! Today we went from. Beaufort, NC to Oriental, NC, 22 miles, 4 hr run.  Thanks for stopping by!
