It was a beautiful day here in Norfolk, couldn’t have asked for anything better. The sun was shining, nice breeze, blue skies and 72 degrees. So we washed the boat. All those bugs from the last 2stops have since died, stuck to the sides, windows and even the outside on the hull and dried up into little lumps of yuck. If you soaked them first with Simple Green, you could scrape off their little carcasses and use a scratchy sponge to remove the stain that remained. We’re getting pretty good at washing the boat and we can do it faster now, way faster. We got an invitation to a back deck party. All the boats that were at the last stop, at Coinjock, all decided to get together and have drinks on the dock. It was nice to sit and relax, watch the barges go by and the military helicopters fly over. As the party broke up, everyone was thinking about dinner plans, me, I decided to go home, open the frig door and stare at it for awhile hoping the dinner fairies had come while we were away and left something yummy to eat. They didn’t. We ended up having brats, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. We call it the white meal, sometimes we have the brown meal or the yellow meal but mostly it’s the white meal. Mrs. Klinginsmith taught our 7th grade home economics class and 54 years later, almost every meal I put on the table, we comment on whether Mrs. Klinginsmith would approve of our efforts, is it nutritional, all food groups but at the top of the list was appeal. A white meal would not qualify for “appeal “, but it tasted good and it was easy. David and I made a pact when we first got on the boat.....since the galley is a one Butt kitchen, I volunteered to do all the dishes if he would dry the shower every time. I hate drying the shower because every time you move, much less bend over, something gooses you and to make it worse, it’s a cold goose. It’s a good deal that we both like. We’re here in Norfolk until Tuesday morning. I’m looking forward to doing some sightseeing and being a tourist for a few days. And just a side note, I’m starting to go into kid withdrawal, I miss my kids terribly, like painfully terribly. I hope that part of boating gets easier! Thanks for stopping by. PS. If you tap on the pics, they will enlarge and they look tons better, thanks Jackie for that tidbit!

Oh Pam, the two pictures of the night views in the marina need to be framed. They're beautiful. So clear and sharp. You need to print them and get them framed. Great blog today, am loving making each picture bigger. So much more detail. Enjoy your weekend of sightseeing, I'm sure there's lots to see and do, and I'm sure there's plenty of fabulous food places to enjoy. Love you both.
