Comparisons

We need to call the marina tomorrow to get a rat update, that still weighs heavily on us.  We’re getting all our appointments done while we are here, dentist and all the other miscellaneous docs, then we’ll be good for another year-ish.  David and I are on such different schedules than Leslie and Jake, they watch tv and Jake plays on the computer with his friends until 1am then Jakey slept until 2pm when Leslie woke him up, ahh to be young.  Quiet day, we’ve decided to make hot tamales while we are here and that was about it for big decisions, ha. I did go to the grocery store this afternoon, I drove our black rental car, it was 116 outside, I didn’t even bother with the a/c, it just wasn’t that bad (compared to hot and humid on the East Coast). It’s funny the comparisons that I have realized life is very different in Boatland.  Our king size bed here is ginormous, we hardly know that Ellie is pushing us around, the bed doesn’t rock you to sleep, the bathroom is huge, nothing gooses you if you drop something in the shower AND the toilet uses soooo much water to flush, I loaded and unloaded the dishwasher twice today, there’s a ceiling fan in our bedroom, now that’s a luxury!  Oh, and Leslie has a pantry where all her food is, in ONE place.  My “pantry” on the boat is an ottoman that lives under the chair, that you have to finesse over the rug to get it open to find a canned good, or in the hall cabinet if you want something in a box, or in the base of the table if you want a different box of something or there’s a small space above the ice maker that a Pyrex pan will just fit into,  gotta see the joy in the boating way of life, you use every nook and cranny. Hey, sleep well and enjoy that ceiling fan!
