Fireworks galore!
Driving 12 hours in one day makes for tired hineys and kinda grumpy moods. We saw this giant billboard advertising a fireworks extravaganza store, so we stopped. The joy is in the journey, right! It indeed was huge and I’ve never seen so many and so many different kinds of fireworks! But the 2 most amazing things…they were basically wiped out of product to sell(and it was still the most fireworks I’ve ever seen in one place). The 2nd thing…they were half of the price that we paid for our 4th of July night. I know where we are stopping next time we drive back to Phoenix, exit 369 in Lenoir City, Tennessee. We got into tons of traffic today, so many 18 wheelers! Can’t really complain though since they are bringing the toilet paper, canned goods and all the other items that every business uses and sells. The bad weather didn’t help the traffic move any smoother. There were several rainstorms, 2 humdingers, bad enough for people to actually slow down and put their emergency flashers on. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner, big mistake. With the gluten free, I can always have breakfast there and the food is decent, but oh no, not this time! David could hardly gag his chicken fried steak down and my “breakfast sampler” was barely edible. The tiny slice of bacon was 15 seconds away from burnt, the sausage patty that was about the size of a quarter and dry like a hockey puck, could have broken a tooth and the ham , if you had eaten it had enough salt for a weeks worth of sodium. The eggs were fine, gotta say something positive! We finally got to the hotel and we are bushed! We went from the Arkansas border into Memphis Tennessee, where we spent last night, all the way through Tennessee and into Virginia, a little town called Wytheville. 571 miles, 12 hours (including fireworks and dinner). We have a 5-6 hour drive tomorrow to get to the boat, yay!!

It was built to shield Christian travelers from a nearby porn shop, says google, but no height was given.

You guys are on the ultimate road trip this summer! Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a long road trip, 38 hours driving to Phoenix and we didn’t count the hours driving back to the boat but it was 5 days. Thankfully is was very uneventful❤️❤️
