Oklahoma City
Yesterday we went from Phoenix to Albuquerque NM, drove 419 miles, 7.5 hours. Today we left Albuquerque and we are here in Oklahoma City, drove 544 miles, 9 hours. We backtracked our drive to Phoenix and we were again amazed at all the wind turbines. We drove past a farm that had the old fashioned kind of windmill in a field and it was now surrounded by huge wind turbines, we just saw the irony of it. There were less 18 wheelers which was a bonus! We have been checking the traffic delays at the Mississippi River near Memphis. We will be entangled in that mess tomorrow and trying to figure out if there is a less painful time, 11pm seems to be the lightest backup so far. We will be crossing it on a Sunday so we are hoping for a reprieve but we are prepared to wait several hours for our turn to cross the Big Muddy. There is a car show in town and even I thought they were very cool. Old restored vehicles were driving down the main drag all afternoon long. People lined the streets, sitting in their lawn chairs and watching the impromptu parade. Now we are in the middle of a storm, almost constant lightning and there was one thunder that was so loud and close, we felt things rattle up here on the 5th floor of the hotel. It scared Ellie, she did a Flying Wallenda off the bed and onto the sofa to sit between David and me. Baby Harrison is doing well after his procedure yesterday and is still as cute as can be!
Were better, just can’t capture it with your phone while going 80 mph.
