Big news

Such a busy day!  We got our new solenoid for the stabilizer, Eric installed it in about 60 seconds.  The one he pulled off we will throw in with the spare parts in case this one goes bad, we’ll have a piece that we can limp home with.  Rather than get a diver to check out the hull, we were told we could pull it out of the water, power wash the bottom, change the zincs and troubleshoot anything down there for just a little bit more than having the diver come out.  The bottom was pretty clean, it had a few barnacles that came off very easily and some algae. Boss Bobby came down after we got the boat back into our slip to change the oil in the engine and the fuel filters too.  David can do it next time since Boss Bobby showed him all the tricks. The fuel filter was pretty dirty so we hope that will solve our RPM issue.  Eric also discovered the inverter, very complicated but in Pam language, it’s wired incorrectly.  It works just fine but when we are back here in Deltaville in the fall, they can get that rewired correctly.  In the fall,  we will also have them put some strainers over the through hulls so we don’t suck up any more plastic bags, little fish or jellyfish that would prevent us from using the a/c and/heat.  Also we’ll have the water maker “unpickled”. That means a couple of owners ago, removed the parts in it to basically put it into storage without ruining the water maker itself. Hopefully we will just have to put new filters and membranes in it and it should work again.  Hopefully!  We would like to go to the Bahamas next year and because water is so hard to come by there, at least $1/gallon, and when you use up to 600 gallons a week, the cost would add up very quickly.  Lots of pics today, hope you enjoy them!  Oh, and the BIG news, we’re leaving Monday morning, heading towards the Solomon Islands.  PS. We are not going to be overly affected by the storms heading this way.  We are tucked into the Chesapeake, maybe some wind and a little rain tonight and maybe winds of 15mph on Sunday.😀

David checking the bow thruster.

Zinc gone bad.

Funny bumper sticker on an SUV.

 Barnacles on the propeller.

Just a beautiful flower.

Heidi, the big boss, Boss Bobby,  Starr, and Eric checking on the stabilizer.

New barnacles on the propeller, they came off very easily.

The stabilizer, 7 1/2sq feet big.

Another bad zinc.

More bad zinc.

Good zinc, bad zinc.

Painkiller out of the water.

Another bad zinc, there are about 11 zincs on the hull.

Yet another bad zinc.

Cute little jellyfish, stay away from my fresh water through hull fitting.

The propeller, considered pretty clean, they’re literally covered when they’re bad.
Using the travel lift to pull Painkiller out of the water.
Sorry it’s so jerky.  Ellie was off leash playing with a friend and I wasn’t totally focused on the video process, 🤪

  1. There must be two Solomon Islands? The one I am aware of is north east of Australia and I dont think you are going that far! Where are these Islands?

    1. I think just north of us in the Chesapeake. But David will know for sure, I think he said it’s about a 6.5 hr run, so 40 miles-ish. But……now they are talking about a knocking noise in the engine when you turn it off. We’re going to check it out before we leave. David’s main fear is that we get out in the ocean and the only engine we have quits!! I may fly home for a week while he chases that. Our summer is ruined anyway. ☹️
