Cape May, day 2
Wandering around Cape May for a couple of hours was fun. The beach was beautiful white sand that was clean and cool on your feet. There were a couple of guys trying to catch some waves on their surfboards. The weather was so great today, actually cool with a wonderful breeze. People were loving the beach and cool weather. We found the Goofy Golf, the fountain in the park, the religious shrine and the best Ace Hardware you can imagine. We went to the Rusty Nail for lunch, clam strips, nachos and one giant Rum Bucket drink. Let me tell you, it was LEADED! We sorta weaved our way to Acme (grocery store) and while we were waiting for the marina courtesy car to pick us up, the Skateboard Camp came by, parked their boards and went inside the store. Ten “little boys” came out with 2 adults, they all got on their boards and off they went. I’m guessing the boys were maybe 12 years old but their skills were way higher than their years. Those boys could ride, jump, do those twisty moves, all kinds of tricks. I was pretty awestruck watching them. After we got back to the marina, and after a short rum nap, we joined Jim and Darlene on Sabbatical, the Selene 49’ for drinks on their very comfortable flybridge. We stayed too long talking about charts, destinations and fun things to do along the way. On our way back to Painkiller, we met a nice couple and chatted about our dogs and how much they mean to us. They went further down the dock to see our boat, we took Ellie for a quick walk and crossed paths with them as we both headed home. We started to step aboard the boat and the folks having a party on the 80’ Merritt in the next slip had to greet Ellie. We spent another 20 minutes chatting with them. There’s never a dull moment nor strangers on the dock in Boatland.
