Saint Michaels MD

I hope everybody enjoyed Grant’s (our son) post from yesterday.  I enjoyed it immensely and I realize I need to step up my game if I am to do as good a job as he did.  We are thoroughly enjoying their visit.

Saint Michaels has been recommended by almost every other boater we have met as a place you have to visit.  They were right, it’s a great little town.  This morning we got up and trekked over to the beach. Harrison had his little swim trunks and swim shirt on.  Mommy Ashley and Daddy Grant took turns dipping his feet in the water.  He babbled on and on and seemed to like it.  We picked up a few pretty shells, put Ellie’s leash back on, retrieved her toy and wandered back to the boat.

As we started our departure routine, naturally the wind started up a little, it always seems to.  It makes it a little bit more difficult to exit our slip, but Capt. Dave, as usual, did a good job and we left without incident.  The seas were fine for awhile and since we had a 5 hour run, I decided to try and go down to our stateroom and nap down there. I must have been tired, I crashed for a couple of hours.  In the meantime, the seas got quite choppy, maybe the worst we have been in yet and I managed to sleep through it all.  By the time I woke up we were only about 30 minutes out, oops.

After docking we loaded up Harrison and all the baby gear and took off to explore the town of Saint Michaels.  There are some shops that look like a lot of fun, maybe we’ll find something we can’t live without.  The architecture here is just amazing to look at, the oldest houses are from the mid 1790’s.  The sidewalks are paved with red brick, the trees are so large, their canopies blend together to shade the streets.  We’ll go back in tomorrow to do some shopping and maybe try out the swimming pool here at the Marina.
