Touring the ships

In preparation for the Family to visit, we did some cleaning and provisioning. David went over to tour the  USS Constellation, which is a sloop of war, the last sail only warship that was designed and built by the US Navy in 1854.  The USS Torsk is a WWII era submarine.  He enjoyed going through them.  His comment was how tight the space was, claustrophobic.  We went to dinner with friends from Viscaya, Mike and Angela at Oceanaire here in Baltimore. David has been talking about the Chicken Fried Lobster that he had had here a couple of years ago. It was as good as he remembered it!  We met Mike and Angela several ports ago and it was good to see them again and hear about their travels to Maine this summer. We discussed maybe doing the Bahamas with them in the Spring.  We Ubered back to the boat to call it a day.  We have a 3 hour run tomorrow to Annapolis. It was a nice day here in Boatland.

These pics are from Angela’s trip to Maine.  They got to play peek-a-boo with this seal.

He would look at them but as soon as they made eye contact, he would duck under the water and then come up again.  Fun game.

Professsor Trash Wheel keeps garbage in the water from the river out of the Baltimore Harbor.  And boy was it needed!

Garbage floating in the Baltimore Harbor.  There was garbage everywhere.  There was a little boy with a net scooping the trash out of the water by his boat.  I went over and (checked with his mother first) gave him $5 for doing a good deed in trying to keep our oceans clean.  I didn’t get his name but his Mom told me later he was deciding how to spend his money at Target and that he was going to use the net everyday to keep getting trash out of the water.
