Beautiful blue water

The water is finally blue, a beautiful blue.  The ICW water was the color of coffee, tea or espresso.  Since we were running today in the Atlantic, the pollution is behind us and we really enjoyed the sight of clean, teal colored waters.  We were only in 15' deep areas and at some point the water was so clear, we could see the bottom, so so cool!!  We left Miami around 9am to make the 9:30 bridge lift.  We followed our navigated path. It took us past the 6 or 7 cruise ships that were in port.  We didn't get very far when we heard some poor boat being hailed by the police, apparently that waterway was restricted and pleasure boats were not allowed. We didn't recognize the name of the boat being hailed.....but we were the only boat going that way, and we were going west as the police had said, oh crap, they were talking to us!!  "I think they are talking to us!!"  Sure enough, the police boat came racing up to us with lights flashing,  we slowed down, stopped and David stepped outside to let they know we understood, oops and we did a big pivot and got out of there quickly before we got a citation. Well, this is the first time we've been chased down by police.  That's definitely a good thing!  The route to the marina for tonight, we have been dreading.  There are lots of shallow spots, the mouth of the arena is charted at 4.5' which means we had to slow way down to wait for the tide to rise enough so that we could get through.  We watched a big tour boat go in like it was no big deal, so we followed him.  We made it in with 7.5' of water, phew!! As we made the rest of the way to our slip, it became obvious that our slip was so tight, no place for me to jump off to the dock to grab lines and tie up.  Thank goodness our neighbor saw us stalling trying to figure out how to manage getting into the slip and they were kind enough to help us dock.  In general, boaters are pretty darn nice people, always willing to lend a hand.  The best thing today, besides the blue water, is my fishing pole got used.  David got it rigged and we threw it in and waited for the big fish.  The big fish never came, but it was tons of fun listening for the chance that the reel would squeal and we would catch something.  Maybe next time.  We went from Miami to Key Largo, 60 miles, 10 hours.  The water temp is up to 77, the air was 80 and medium humidity and beautiful blue water.

You have to zoom in to see this one.  It's a poster, Yellowstone, John Dutton telling Rip to take Pelosi and Biden to the train station, ha
