Fog and more fog
This morning when we got up, 5:30am, we were socked in with thick fog and there was snow on the dock too. I looked in the camera in the pilot house and there was the snow still falling. We couldn't see it with our eyes but the camera could see it. As we were getting ready to pull away from the dock, I noticed the camera in the pilothouse that the sun was rising and it was beautiful! I took a picture of it with my phone and promptly emailed my friend Kitty. Her husband, Danny, takes amazing photos (with only his phone) and I have taken it upon myself, to try and best him, it's a one sided friendly competition. Well, I thought I finally had a photo that put me in the lead, hmmmm, I came to realize that the beautiful sunrise was actually a photo on the camera screen, not the real thing. Doggone! We left the dock in the dark and fog, and what an adventure the day had in store for us. The fog continued for 6 hours, we used our fog horn all day and then the fog simply lifted and the day that unfolded was perfect, a cool but not cold temperature, slight wind and water like glass. While it was so smooth, I decided to do some cleaning. The walls on the boat get dusty and how that happens when you live on the water, I will never figure out. Every so often, I take a rag and wipe down the walls and all the other surfaces. I got the staterooms, heads and the stairs all done. It may not be noticeable to anyone but it makes me feel better. Anyway, on with our day. We got to Dowery Marina and got fuel. They sell so much that we always feel confident that the fuel is clean. We were able to borrow the marina's Courtesy Car, it happened to be a silver Mercedes, nice huh? We soon found the battery to be "low charge", one headlight was out and we were careful not to make any quick turns so there was no chance of the engine stalling and when we got out to go into a restaurant there was no need to lock the doors as that was not a option, ha. It was a quirky car and we were very grateful to get to use it. We see the humor in these things, it's part of the adventure. Today we went from Coinjock, NC to Dowery Creek NC, 10 hour run, 70 miles.
