A very busy day

 The day started early, 5:30am for a brisk walk.  The weather was 85ish, the sun was not up yet and the humidity wasn’t horrible yet.  I went to Grant’s house to drop off the baby blankets my Mother had made for Harrison.  They were thrilled! Then off to drop the truck off for a check up before we drive it back across country when the time comes.  Next, off to the doc, one last test before I get the gold star, and then as the dentist. It took almost 5 hours for the Novocain to wear off to where I could feel my nose, eye and lips.  I’ve never had my nose go numb before or my eye, that was a pretty funky feeling.  In the early afternoon, we ran some errands, stopped by for froyo and saw a fireworks stand that had just opened.  We had plenty of choices and managed to spend a few dollars.  We hurried back to Leslie’s to change shoes and then off for Mexican food with Brother Bob & Chris. We stayed for 3hours catching up a little, it has been way over 18 months since we have seen them, damn Covid.  We had a great time, but then we always do and always have since before we all had kids and that’s a long time, ha.  No news about the rat on the boat.  I’m hoping he is now rat jerky🤪

Dinner with Bob and Chris.  Had tons of fun, although we about drowned under the mister system.

Wrapping it up

 Boss Bobby was absent again today.  He volunteered to come install our hydraulic hoses tomorrow, Saturday, his day off.  Management said no overtime,  doggone again.  David was out on the dock and Boss Bobby came up to him, put both his hands on David’s shoulders and said, “I may have good news for you!”  Boss Bobby called management and explained without anybody else here to bug him, he could come and get the hoses “knocked out”.  Music to my ears!!  He said he’d be here around 9am, I said, “I’ll have lemon bars ready for you”.   Don’t know if he can get all the hoses installed, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed!  We both did more cleaning today.  I got a razor blade and scraped off some dried varnish drips that a previous, sloppy painter had smeared all over the boat when he was applying varnish to the teak rails.  I moved inside and scraped the edges and corners of the floors so get them really clean.  I applied a cle...

Crabbing

 The day started out nicely.  Grant FaceTimed us, he and Harrison were hanging out at home. Grant got him to smile sooo big several times we even got to watch Daddy do Harrison’s tongue exercises  (tongue movement so everything heals correctly). The smiles were real and intentional, not just hot air came out of my butt kind of smiles!!🤪 It was so great to see them both!  I got the great idea to try my hand at crabbing, we took a chicken thigh and tied it with string to the crab trap, I thought it was pretty secure but I was wrong.  The first time we pulled the trap up, a big crab make a fast escape, the next pull we had a baby crab, the third pull we found the chicken thigh completely gone and no crab,  and one of the lines that pulls up the sides to trap the crabs inside had been chewed off. Exploring

The kids went into town to do one last bit of exploring. They found a very cool covered bridge and a crepe place where they had a savory and sweet crepe. Yesterday morning, since I complained so much about the ducks decorating the swim step, last night after I went to bed, David gifted me with a "duck away" contraption.  No ducks were able to cross the gadget so I had a clean swim step this morning, yay! Ahh, the small joys in life.  Captain Grant took us off the dock, and like father, like son, he did a great job! The seas were smooth, not much wind but it did warm up so we had to turn on the a/c.  The kids went up to the flybridge for awhile to enjoy the view and breeze.  Grant also drove the boat up to the dock in Annapolis for a pump out. That was the easy part, he was given the helm to put us in our slip (which is in the top 3 of difficult slips to get into).  With all of us using our headsets and giving Capt Grant numbers....3' from the port side piling, ...
