Father’s Day

I started cooking at 8:30 this morning, getting ready for our Father’s Day gathering at Grant’s house. I started the dinner rolls in the bread machine, then moved on to the chocolate chip cookies.  Leslie had made the dough the night before,  at almost

My favorite-ist 4 men in the whole wide world.

Dino  Ribs, also know as beef ribs.  This cow must have been ginormous!

Time for cards.

Leslie and Jake, 2 peas in a pod.

Dino Bones for dinner.

They look kinda normal size, but they weren’t.  They were huge!

Happy Father’s Day!

The smoked chicken was amazing too!

Cards.

midnight, oh my little night owl, some things never change.  I baked the cookies, some were too done, some were not done enough but a few were pretty perfect.  Next was the Potatoes Trude, I think the Mormons call them funeral potatoes but we got the recipe from our good friend, yes, Trude, many,  many years ago.  Harrison and Mommy were napping at 1pm so we went later to let them sleep longer.  When we got there, Grant had the Dino Ribs cooked (a 24 hour process) and had them resting.  We warmed up the potatoes, plated the dinner rolls, and then Grant unveiled the ribs.  They were simply amazing, both looking and tasting. As we sat down down to eat, as always the baby wakes up. I called dibs to go in and get him, he was in his little bassinet and was yowling, as I picked him up and no wonder he was fussing, he was so sweaty!!  His little blanket was damp, then his shirt was almost wet, then his  little shorts were drenched, he wasn’t hot and sweaty, he had pee’d a lake, even got the little mattress wet. I’m sure he felt better after that!  As I started to change his clothes, Daddy came in and like a pro, got him out of his cutest little outfit and sopping dipey and into clean and dry everything.  Mommy held him while Daddy gulped down his dinner, then they traded.  Since it was Father’s Day, none of us ladies gave them any grief about jumping up to watch the big golf tournament.  Dishes we’re done quickly and we settled in for the boys to open their cards, there were tears, mostly mine, the sentiments were so heartfelt, things were written that are not usually shared in everyday conversations but saved for another special time when the listening is better.  We came home and all had a round of Alka Seltzer, to ward off the meat sweats.  It was a very nice family gathering, special to all of us.  Happy Father’s Day to all of you out there and I hope your day was as wonderful as ours.❤️❤️
