Boss Bobby

 First off…I would like to thank all 263 of you that stopped by yesterday to read this!!  It takes some time and effort every day on my part and I really appreciate the interest and support.  It rained all day, really, all day.  Ellie only went potty twice as she hates the rain (but loves the snow).  Boss Bobby was running a little late, but let’s face it, it’s his day off!  He headed directly into the engine room and began doing his pretzel moves to install the hydraulic hoses.  We put a giant fan outside the door to blow cooler air into the space. Today’s10 hour rain storm.

 grab some water.  He was hidden in there for about 4 hours and got all the hoses installed, that makes the job about half done.  On Monday he will be back to tighten any clamps, check for leaks or any other problems and then fill the system with the hydraulic fluid.  Last piece of the puzzle is to actually turn on the big rumbler and go out for a spin.  If everything goes right, we’ll be graduating to actually using the boat.  Pay the bill, ouch, and off we will go.

 The ICW was so exciting today.  The tides were with us today, we ran at an average of 8.2knots/1690 rpm’s and our top speed  at full throttle is only 7.9 knots, we got a free ride.  There was a lot of interesting things to see, the houses along the way were gorgeous, we got to watch a guy catching shrimp, several bridges which one of them was a swing bridge.  I find those fascinating!  I started the day by making a loaf of bread for dinner, then 3 loads of  laundry, then 3 hours to give Ellie a haircut, then vacuumed everything (10 minute job) to get all the dog hair off the floors and took a bunch of pics in between chores.  Then the excitement.....we came around a bend and saw the marina we are staying in for the night.  It was not only low tide, but a King Tide. Tour of the Battleship Wisconsin

We toured the Battleship Wisconsin today.  We spent 5hours crawling around the ship and we both were in awe.  There’s too much to write about, so today you can just look at the pictures. Here goes: A Navy ship that had one gun manned by a crew of Marines.  This was the Marine emblem drawn by one of the Marine gunners when he was 19.  When he turned 85, the Navy brought him out so that he could climb up on scaffolding in 100 degrees heat.  It took him 4 days to complete the emblem being restored.  He was in heaven that the Navy had honored him with the task. This is gunpowder that is compressed into pellets, there are 256 pellets in one bag, it takes 6 bags to fire one gun one time. Highest point on the ship.  It’s basically the pilot house.  Thank goodness it cooled off today.  It’s 66 right now, perfect in my world, sweatshirt weather to most. David decided to change the oil in the generator, it took him 45 mins and he was happy to have that behind him.  Then he decided to rewire the electric cord that we plug into the dock, he’s been wanting to do that for 2 months.  I got out my sewing machine and finished the bed comforter.  We got to talking to our neighbor in the slip next to us, we both had reservations to go to the little restaurant by the marina office.  As of 3:30 they were open but then closed because they didn’t have enough staff to open for dinner.  There went our dinner plans. Our neighbors invited us to go into town to a restaurant that oysters were the specialty.  Neither David nor I am into raw oysters, so we passed on the oysters.
