Dinghy cleaning

Some people can be just plain ol' unpleasant.  We were getting ready to move the boat off the fuel dock to our assigned spot...except some sailboat guy poached our slip.  This lady was hanging around the fuel dock, pacing actually. David said something to her and she explained to him in no uncertain terms how she was waiting for her boat to be put back into the water so she could put it in her assigned slip.  Only her assigned slip was where we had gotten bumped to and she let us know.  David explained how we got bumped out of our assigned slip too.....and so goes life in the marina.  We super cleaned the dinghy this morning, last time we worked it over, we just got the mildew farm off.  But after today, it looks new.  We made our own temporary repair on the dinghy cover.  There is one spot that has failed a couple of times, one repair  put a layer of canvas down with glue, whoever repaired it the next time used duck tape, the next repair used bathtub caulking, geez what a mess!  All those glues and tapes failed, and now as they flopped around, smeared glue goo all over the dinghy.  David was able to get it all of, yay!  We thought we would use some kind of cleaner to get the vinyl clean, well, it was really grimy  only we didn't know it until we got one little spot clean, now we had to clean every square inch to make it all match, ha!  We just got a boat towel and used safety pins to pin the towel onto the canvas, covering the entire mess of previous repairs. That will keep the goo from getting all over it again.  We have located the company that built the dinghy, contacted them and now we know we can simply buy a new one that the company produces for all the dinghies they build for much less money than having a custom one designed and sewn.  But like I said, it looks new and sparkly clean. We did find out the marina is going to pull Painkiller out of the water on Friday to put it on the hard and finish the repairs there.  I guess that means we are heading to Phoenix on Friday since we will be boatless. And other than that, it was a pretty calm day. It's amazing how going 50 miles southward, the weather is completely different.  It was pants weather in Maryland and here in Virginia it's 9pm and 80 with 75% humidity, yuck.  But soon we will be in Phoenix where it's 85 and no humidity, such an improvement.  Can't wait to see the family and friends, we'll be there till at least Thanksgiving.
