The past 3 days

Travel days can be fun when you get to stop at new and interesting places.  We got to Gatlinburg TN and it was so jam packed with cars, and you know why?  There’s a lot of fun things to do ie. zip lining, river speed boats, tons of shopping, including the outlet stores.  David went to a tool store, he said they had everything so he added to his tool collection.  I went to the Lodge cast iron store and found a few things I couldn’t live without.  We also had to make a stop at the fireworks store for a few explosives for New Years.  There was one more fun stop, the Russell Stover candy store.  We found the back room where the “Bloopers” were, the seconds.  Buy 2 bags, get 1 free, that made 12#’s of sugar free candy, we’ll be pooping like a goose with all that sorbitol! The day before we left Deltaville, we had a scary thing happen.  We took the Painkiller name decal off the boat to have a new one made in a more readable font.  David  spent 4-5 hours getting the glue off, compounding and adding several layers of wax to the transom in preparation for the lady to be able to put the new decal on. Anyway, I stopped to admire all his hard work and wasn’t paying attention to Ellie as she decided she wasn’t waiting for me to get off the boat for a potty stop.  She hit the end of her leash as she was jumping off the boat onto the dock…..but she didn’t make it. It jerked her backwards,  right into the water between the boat and the dock.  OMG, she made a big splash, it’s a good thing because we heard her go in, I kept a little tension on the leash to keep her head above water.  She was trying to “swim” but there wasn’t much room. David very quickly was belly down on the dock and reaching for her legs before she went under the dock where we wouldn’t have been able to get her out.  Have you ever tried lifting 45#’s of dead weight  by lying flat with your arms out in from of you. I helped him lift her out and onto the dock.  And that adrenaline is what gives you have super powers!  She choked and coughed for a few minutes but seemed to be ok except she was really freaked out.  With her having Addison’s disease, that kind of excitement is the last thing she needs so I gave her a little larger dosage of her prednisone to help her body deal with all the stress hormones.  She hasn’t eaten much for 3 days now.  She seems to want my Cheetos, egg salad and crunchy bars but turns her nose up at her crunches and green beans.  She is going to have to go see Dr Dan if she doesn’t get better, make sure there is no damage to her throat from falling in.  After all that excitement, we were making dinner and heard this music.  We followed it to the end of the dock and there we saw a man on the bow of his sailboat playing the bagpipes!  Boy, he was very talented,  he first played a song and then finished with a taps kind of song. When the mini-concert ended

That damn rat still haunts us!

, he turned, went back into his boat and the performance was over .  I clapped loudly and probably for too long but I so enjoyed his performance.   Yesterday we didn’t leave the boat until 4pm, there was so much to do.  We only drove 3 hours to Salem, VA and today we’ll end up in Hurricane Hills, TN, just past Nashville.  We don’t know what the big excitement is in the area but EVERY hotel room is booked.  We were lucky to find one in Hurricane Hills. Tomorrow will bring more driving, thank goodness Tennessee has figured out how to fix the bridge over the Mississippi River.  We were planning on a minimum of 2 hours in the morning for the traffic delay to get over the River but now we don’t have to get up at 5am to make our way across.  Dinner will be cheese and crackers for dinner, to tired to go out for real food.  See you soon when there is anything noteworthy! God Bless America!
