Fishing, not catching

Our fishing trip got a little bit of a late start this morning.  We sorta overslept, but we,  meaning me, took the boat out of the slip (I’ve graduated from kindergarten to jr. high in  Captain-ing school). David is still co-captaining by helping with corrections but fewer and fewer of them. I actually had to navigate my way out and dodge boats that were tied up.  It was a high five moment. The kids were still asleep when we left and they didn’t get up until about 11am. Leslie found Jake awake, on his bunk with the drapes pulled open and staring out his window.  He told us he had seen a flying fish and thought that was pretty neat. We finally heard the squeal of the fishing pole. David ran out to check it, called Jake to come reel in the fish.  He did a great job but before we could see what it was, the fish got loose, darn.  That would have been such an exciting memory for Jake.  Ten minutes later, the rod squealed again.  This time Leslie fought the fish, it too got off but Leslie did at least harvest a little seaweed for all her effort.  We slowly worked our way towards the marina, David saw a sea turtle, 3-4' long and wide, bigger than any we saw yesterday at the Turtle Hospital.  It dove down so none of us got to see it, darn.  We had Jake running up the engine RPMs (under supervision of course) while we headed home, his first boat lesson.  After we docked and all hooked up again to power and water, we put our suits on and went to the pool to cool off.  Yesterday, Leslie and I had gone to the Sandals Outlet and we saw the newest craze for swimming pools, a little ball that will skim across the top of the water, much like skipping rocks at the lake. For $6, he played with it for over 2 hours with some kids he met at the pool, money well spent for him to have so much fun!  Since we caught no fish, it was Taco Thursday on the boat.  Tomorrow, Jake has requested to go see the lady that has a backyard of parrots and other birds.  That should be fun!  PS dial up internet speed again tonight...2 days of videos and pics to follow when it improves!
